It was a fine line I was walking.
Wasn't selling anything, just looking to see if anyone wanted them before they hit the bank.
An argument could be made that it was a trade of sorts.
Not a big deal, I figured I'd do someone else a favor.
They are in Ziploc bags and headed to the casino to go back into circulation...the bank wants me to roll them up just to deposit.

Edited...they are in the wind. :p
The casino wasn't paying but they did take the loose dollars.

I ended up even after a few decks of $10 blackjack, I was up $10 at the high point. After a dealer change the new dealer, I swear must have an 8 tattooed on his forehead in Invisible ink :p Nice guy BUT his Oriental luck  we call him the cooler
I ended up splitting up a pair of 10's. He made a point of alerting the floor, SPLITTING TENS as he rolls his eyes and smirks...I got two small cards for 15 and a 15 so I waved them off. Smirking again the dealer was showing an 8, he turned a 3 :wideyed: 2, ACE and a picture card :greedy:
If I had not split my 10's the dealer would have beaten me again.
Being back to EVEN I promptly left.
I usually leave when this dealer comes... nothing personal but I don't remember the last time he hasn't chased everyone off the table :stop:

Found this today in a coin reject. It's so worn and has a hole punched in it that I am going to try to etch it to find the date. But still the oldest American coin I have have ever found in the wild. Also found a!Blue Ridge Highway S mint quarter, but I did not take a picture. @Coins4Eli might be able to discover the date if he can attribute the die variety.

sigh I wish you had waited a bit. I have asked if anyone has NIFC and offered a small premium along with covering shipping. If you have more in the future, let me know.
and yea, probably should have been in trade, for sale, or do a give-away contest for fun.

I tried for some time to go off of that, the most I could do was a date range from what features were left visible.

I've got my resources at home, I can guarantee you that I will be able to attribute it. That die break on the reverse is going to make it easy. Right now it looks to be an 1838, but I will have to find the Newcomb variety to verify it.

Super impressed. From the numbers I have been able to raise the 8 is most clear, but it's looking like 1836 or 1838 as the last digit has some roundness to it.

I found two silver nickels this past week, didn't grab pics, but something more interesting is a 1964 dot Canada small cent. 1335800926331.jpg

Pretty Cool to find one of those in the wild. I have only found a couple in coin roll hunting. None in the coin star yet. There is a market for coins with holes in them. I do know that.

Tell me about it. I have several. Not nearly as much as @lordmarcovan though.

Ohhhh. I haven't been on here for a while. I did win a give a way a long time ago from him but again I haven't seen what he's posted. You're talking findings in the wild or a collection in general?

Mostly from both the wild and through contests.

Amazing find. It is certainly a late-1830s Coronet cent. As @Mr. Numismatist mentioned, perhaps @Coins4Eli or someone else well-versed in the Newcomb varieties might be able to pin the date down using die characteristics.

I would not attempt to acid-etch it to try to raise the date, however, as that will leave you with an ugly orange spot that clashes with the rest of the coin’s natural brown patina. And it might not be successful anyway.

You can already pin it down to a relatively narrow date range as-is.

Collection in general. I haven’t found any holed coins in the wild, except while metal detecting.

From a bag, in Europe :) and yes, that coin is a solid 3 figures. I don’t know what I’ll do with it. Might actually send to NGC or ICG for conservation. It’s a nice one!
