If you weigh it on an accurate scale, it might give you an indication if they are all 90% or all 40% silver... Copper-nickel clad: 11.34 g 40% silver clad: 11.50 g 90% silver: 12.50 g (from Wikipedia; weight in grams per coin)
Where does it say "Silver Half Dollars"? All I see is "HALVES" on the end and "Center Ring Plus" in the middle. I'm guessing that it is a roll of mixed dates that came from some sort of arcade or gaming center. Chris
Look closer. I believe it is ALVES (not an R), then HA. Also, at the top is VES. HALVES is repeated and overlapped by the paper roll. Chris
Opening it would be fun, plus you will know what you got. Unless you sell it so someone else can have that fun!
Not maybe! For sure! But, I do agree with you and Rick that there is no point thinking about it. Rip it open!!! Chris
I use a staple remover to unroll the sides by putting it under the lip and rotating the roll, over and over again. Then you can remove the contents, review them, put them back in, and reroll the edge back in - which is a bit more tricky.
lol I haven't ever sold a coin anywhere. It's hard for me to let go of change. I have stuff I rolled in the 70s that's still sitting around. And I have no idea what's in then (age of pennies, nickels, dimes, etc). Sooner or later when I have nothing better to do and I know something about pennies, etc. FWIW, you could always buy a coin rolling machine anyways.
For those following along at home, @cpm9ball only gave half of the recipe for success. Step 1: never buy "unsearched bank-crimped rolls" from this guy on eBay. Step 2: never buy them from anybody else on eBay, either.
