So, yesterday I was down at the mall here in town and I discovered they had a traveling exhibit of artifacts from the RMS Titanic. I thought it would be fun to go and look at them so I did.

In one of the cases was a small collection of coins and currency recovered from the wreck. There was a $1 Black Eagle silver certificate as well as a 1907 $5 note. There were also a couple silver coins in the case. A couple British coins (which I don't know much about) and a set of common date Barbers (dime, quarter, and half). I couldn't take pictures in there...so I don't have any but it was cool to see. But, what bothered me was the condition of the coins. They had been "restored" for the display and it looked as if steel wool had been used on them. I knew at that moment that this hobby had changed me forever as I was looking at recovered artifacts from the wreck and all I could think about was how those poor coins had been treated. :D
