Would this be caused by a misaligned die. Found while going through some rolls of pennys. Its on both sides of the coin and on the left side. the back of the coin Jeff Hall
That looks more like a slight Finned Rim. A higher than normal pressure strike will cause the metal to appear that way.
Thanks for the response paddman98. It's not a pretty penny but I'll put it in a 2x2 just because its different. also found a 72 D the same way Just not as bad . Jeff Hall
Paddyman is right about the excessive pressure. I think your coin was struck with a tilted die which will cause finning on just one side of the coin.
