My two kids and I went to the Fort Collins Coin Club Show yesterday and had a great experience. We recently moved from Texas to Colorado, so this was our first show since moving out here. The venue was nice - an events center in downtown Fort Collins. According to the ad, there were about 40 tables on the bourse and there was a nice variety of material. We were there late morning and the bourse was crowded, which I'll take any day compared to an empty bourse. My son is a Silver bug so he quickly found a bullion dealer and got the SpiderMan coin, which came in an AirTite and cloth bag. My daughter is working on her cent collection, so she found one dealer who sold her a roll of wheat cents and another guy who sold her some individual cents she was missing, including an 09VDB and a 10 and 11. She was so excited that those came right out the 2x2s and into the book. She also got the silver Pegasus coin because she likes horses The dealers were nice to the kids and gave them a couple foreign coins, the mint markers for P and D mints, and the African currency. I'm always grateful when dealers do those little things to show kids the variety of things out there. I was looking for two things for my Dansco 7070: a nice SLQ Type 1 (didn't find one with enough detail) and a Shield nickel with no rays. I found the nickel, which I've looked for at other shows to no avail. So that was a happy find. The buzz of the show seemed positive and I saw busy tables and money changing hands. Hopefully it was a good show for all.
