Guys, I found one of the 1987 P Roosevelt Dimes that has the extra very faint P next to the hair line at Roosevelt's neck. I matched it up to the pics in the CherryPickers' Guide and am nearly certain that's what it is. However this is a stained and dirty coin. To see the error, I need to tilt it to the light. Even then it's pretty weak. I don't care if I "ruin" it by cleaning, because the condition is not very good, but I would like to bring it out some before putting it in the flip. I don't think these are very valuable, but would keep it until and if I find another better one. I never bothered with cleaning any clad coins except for acetone baths for dirty LMC's. So what's the best way to do it ? Thanks, gary
I've used dish shop and a toothbrush on coins that didn't matter. I don't recommend it but if you don't care if you ruin it then ya got nothing to lose.
Gary: The best way, since you plan to replace it later with a better example, is to do nothing with it and let someone else decide what they want to do with it after you pass it on. No sense ruining any coin any further for someone else down the line.
