I'm trying to find a thread that discusses re-punched mint marks, but can't. Does anyone know of one on this forum? And if so can you please post the link for it here? Thank you.
Try " repunched mint mark" , "RPM", in the "SEARCH" space above and you should get a large number of threads. Some are general, some are specific. What are you looking for ? A listing~ this is better on some sites that specialize such as coppercoins.com for lincoln cents for example. There are sites for almost every series of coin varieties. Since for most of numismatic history, the mint mark was entered into the die by hand, and little was thought of the fact that the multiple blow produced images slighty ( or larger) separated strikes, until relatively later. There are also multiple books on the different coins. if you are researching a certain coin series, it will be easier to narrow down. Also the more educational threads on these areas tend to be farther back on the site than recent, IMO.
