Repunched mint mark?

    I think it is, but I fear it could be corrosion. What do you think?

    If you don't have a camera with a macro lens, you will need to use a microscope of some kind. Here is an example using a stereomicroscope with zoom.

    I believe your fear is correct. Its a form of die deterioration combined with zinc rot, alot of cents from the 80's have that look.
