Hey guys, report this guy. He claims to be a "coin dealer" but his trade dollars are obviously fake. Shoot him down while he's fresh! http://cgi.ebay.com/1878-CC-Trade-D...61?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item35ad98b3d1 Click into his eBay page. THEY'RE ALL FAKES. He's even selling an 1885 V nickel, 1899CC morgan etc. All key dates and all fake! :foot-mouth: Help me out here guys.
Why do these people stoop to such a low level. I mean, come on, really?!?! These eBay frauds are getting on my nerves. :heated:
His coins don't even look real at all. Notice that his eBay username is "CoinEnthusiast214"! Here is his 1885 (Counterfeit) V Nickel. Tsk tsk tsk:
Exactly my point coinmaster, and people are getting tricked into buying his coins because of his username too! Dan
This is from the seller's About Me section: "I am an avid coin and historical artifact collector, planning to sell a lot of my items on eBay now." He should be demanded to right the word "counterfeit" right in between the words "my" and "items".
This is terrible people are actually bidding on this stuff. Something needs to be done here i find more replicas on ebay then i do authentic coins and sometimes its hard to tell them apart, not in this situation but i have been fooled before.
I agree, spaceface 0ne. I think that eBay should do a Heritage type thing where you consign the coin to them, so if it sells it goes directly to the buyer, but each item would be verified as authentic by experts. Let's say you consigned eBay a coin and it was fake, but they didn't know. Well, then it'd go to an expert and verified as authentic. I know that they'd receive thousands of items a day from all around the world, but it would be worth it for the protection of the buyer.
What if you purchased one of them, sent it for authentication and proved it fake ? Then could you turn the evidence over to the Atty. General or someone for prosecution ? Where are the cops ? Maybe we need a sting operation on this ?
Man! These fakes are horrible! Check out this III cent piece! http://cgi.ebay.com/1885-III-Cent-N...S_Individual&hash=item35ad98f67a#ht_645wt_922
Well i did my part, The consignment idea sounds great but i don't expect ebay to do much to solve the problem anytime soon. This seller might not make it very far but there are so many more out there that get by with it every day.
Same here, but a CoinCops job is never over...(followed by ominous music while walking into a sunset)
Lets see. He lives in NJ and say you live in Cal.(? pick your state). You are going to fly to NJ to file charges and at least 10 trips for a trial date that gets postponed each time. Yep! That really sounds like a fantastic idea.
I messaged the seller, and this was his response: "woah what? i'm a college student that brought these coins to a local coin dealer and he appraised them with grades and prices. i'm just trying to make what he said i could. i'm no coin expert...so how am i supposed to know, i took a coin dealers word. how can you tell its fake?" Addition: All of his items have been removed.
