Hi folks. I teach 8th grade US History in Tampa, Florida. I love showing my students replica coins that "may" have been used during the Colonial Period (1600s - late-1700s). They're fascinated by the coins and it's always a fun class. I have replicas of some shillings, Pieces of Eight, Thalers, Ecus, etc, etc. I was hoping to find replicas of Dutch guilders (gulden) and British Pound coins from the 1700s...anyone know if/where I might be able to find some at a reasonable price? Thanks...and be gentle on the newbie! =)
Welcome Varrus9696! Not sure of answer, someone might know. Very happy to hear your exciting the students with coinage. Are you interested in modern coins as well? __________________ Jblaine10 Jeff
Well, I have some replica Continental dollars but not much more than that. I wish that I did but it's hard to find anything in Florida! What I have have been found mostly by freak chance (visits to St. Augustine, Williamsburg). I would LOVE suggestions for replicas of early U.S. coins that I could bring in to class but when it gets into modern American money I am useless. Any suggestions from anyone (names / types of coins, where I could get them) is appreciated! =)
