A great haul from numerous visits to a couple of neighborhood Coinstars over the long holiday weekend. I find my self stopping by those machines anytime I'm passing by now, it's addicting. Also found about 40 zincolns, 10 recent nickels, and some common Euro coins.

The funny thing about a majority of this particular batch (in the picture above) was that a woman asked how to use the Coinstar right after I had checked it. I guess she thought I had just used it. Anyway, I showed her, and at the end I pointed out her numerous rejects below and she said, "I don't want that!, you can take it if you want it". She told me she just didn't want to bother with coins again at the moment, she just wanted them gone.

I was happy because I never take the rejected coins if I see the person still around, I always point it out to them. I would feel too guilty just grabbing them. To me that's like seeing a person drop paper money and not saying anything.

One silver dime in the coinstar tray.(1964) If you're going to find a dime. Let it be silver, I say.

My son scooped out a few dimes and a couple tokens out of a coinstar the other day.

Strange batch last night. 3 modern foreign, and 90 cents in perfectly good modern American coin. Oh well.

Found these in the coinstar at the supermarket yesterday. Finding 2 silver quarters is always nice .

Walked by the CS in Harris-Teeter the other day and there was a pile in the reject slot, probably two dozen coins. Mostly foreign, a couple of tokens, a dollar or two worth of mostly-stuck-together US. No silver or other collectibles, so I left it on the counter for someone hungry.

Found a good chunk of regular change in the coin star. Newark De. Acme. A couple pesos, I think ther4e is some Canadian in there, Maybe a thai baht and some 77 KIDS NY lab from 46'th and broadway tokens. Probably about $1-2 U.S. in there also! Coin Star haul 6-13-21.jpg

Hiwatt Nice old silver Canadian quarter, as well as the Mercs and the silver quarter.
DeanC12 Nice on the 2 silver quarters.
furryfrog02 Nice on the 1909 pull. I think my oldest is 1917 which was on the grill. Actually it was stuck in between the grill and the very end and I almost didn't bother taking a key and getting it out.

So recently I am finding a dime on the grill, a dime on the back shelf, a dime in the slot. But no scoops that are photo worthy. Today there is a sign that says the Coin Star is not working. And I found a dime on the grill, so that was fun.

I've actually found some stashes of coins at coin machines the past couple of weeks. Lots of regular change, about $3 in Canadian dosh, a coin from British Honduras, some tokens, some Euro coins etc.

But these were the memorable finds:

The tiny half centavo was found last night in a coinstar with some asst Canadian and some Euro coins. At first I thought it was a one centavo from ca. 1960s Philippines based on the common design of the reverse - then I turned it over and saw the United States of America and the eagle and shield and realised this was special.

The dime, I wouldn't have looked for it but there was a small coin spill under the coin machine at the credit union when I went in to make a withdrawal. I picked up the cent and nickel and decided to take a peak under the machine to see if there was any more under the machine. Sure enough, I thought maybe it was a Canadian 10c coin and I had to use a pen to pull it out from under the machine - imagine my surprise when I saw FDR instead of HRH and just knew it was silver.
