This coin was struck to honor Ferdinand III upon his election as the new Holy Roman Emperor. There seem to be two variants/ this coin/ and one auctioned by Künker 2017. I have only seen one of each type.

Gold I presume? As a Commemorative was it ever intended for circulation? I don't see a denomination. What are the stats? Of course I want one now.

Most commeratives were struck for commerce/ even the big AV 100 Dukaten 350g. could be used for large purchase. The mints back in 1600s did not put the denominations on their coins?????? This I find crazy since some coin series had AV 8/ 9/ 10 Dukaten/ so you had to weigh coin to find actual value. For ex. AV 1 Dukats came in at 3.48-3.52 g. Thus my AV Doppel Dukat weighs 6.86g/ but some 2 D. weigh 7.00g.!
    This coin is..... 6.86g. 26.5mm. .986

Thanks, wow the .986 is the most amazing part.

That's almost 24K gold, must be quite soft.

Very nice! My examples from Regensburg are lowly little pfennigs weighing less than a gram! As always, I enjoy your posts and coins.
