I have tried 2 sites, this and a google supplied one. both say files not found. Does anyone have a link for a free online reference book on Barber dimes? any help appreciated. james
The David Lawrence books are all available on-line, as listed on the BCCS site @ksmooter61 referenced above. Here's the Guide to Barber Dimes book.
Yes, thank you! I was delighted to find all three available online, and terribly disappointed when they disappeared. I'm glad they're back.
(edit: double post, wish AT&T would fix our network connection and Xenforo would fix the multiple-post bug...)
The David Lawrence books go into a lot more detail than the Red Book - I think even more detail than the giant and/or specialized Red Book variants.
The online Lawrence books are a good overall reference but a bit outdated now, as far as hub types and varieties. You could probably find hardcopy Bowers' Guidebook of Barber Silver Coins fairly cheap, which has dimes in addition to quarters and halves if you wanted to branch out (example https://www.abebooks.com/Guide-Book-Barber-Silver-Coins-Bowers/31589584465/bd). The Lawrence quarter and half books are also online, same link from BCCS above. BCCS quarterly journal archives 1989-2015 are also online here https://nnp.wustl.edu/library/publisherdetail/511173. There you will find all kinds of cool stuff, not just dimes of course. Kevin Flynn wrote a reference on Barber dime varieties with tons of RPDs, RPMs, MPDs etc. He was generous enough to have Heritage put a pdf link to it in their sale of his dimes back in March 2024 - https://www.heritagestatic.com/c/d/cms/045/768/Barber-Dime-Varieties.04576858.pdf.
