I just bought a book at a yard sale and in leafing through it I've come across a 1953 red seal $2 bill. (the book was .50 so I'm already a 1.50 ahead of the game!!) Someone told me that the blue seals are 'silver certificates' and the red seals are 'gold certificates' is this true? The bill is in fairly good condition, no tears and just a couple of very faint fold marks. Anybody have a suggestion of what it's worth?
Bills that have red seals are actually United States Notes, not gold certificates. But regardless, nice find!
Nice find for .50 cents. I would quess that the bill would be worth about $5.00 with no tears or creases.
