Red Cent

    Can anyone tell me what it means when pennies are refered to as "Red"?

    When a cent is newly minted the color of it is referred to as being red. As time passes - copper if left exposed to the air - will begin to tarnish & turn a brown color. Just go through your pocket change - those new bright shiny cents would be termed as red. The older well circulated coins will be a brown color. It's just that simple.
