    Hi All,

Can someone recommend an honest Chinese based e-bay seller they have transacted with in the past?

    Thanks.

I'm assuming since you're posting in "Coin Chat," you mean a coin seller based in China. Good luck getting anybody here to say anything good about Chinese coin sellers.

The thread title is an oxymoron. Those who buy from Chinese coin sellers drop the "oxy". :p

I'm sure they exist. I bought one "good" Morgan from a Hong Kong seller years ago - it was, in fact, the only example of a 1921-P VAM-3N I've ever owned or seen in person, darn near impossible to counterfeit because of the subtlety of the identifying features.

For the record, I buy almost all of my photography gear from Hing Kong.

If you are from Eastern New York, and buying coins, what would you need with a China-based seller, unless you want to exponentially increase your chances of getting screwed?

I should have been much clearer when I started this post.

I am really looking to collect all the Chinese panda's that have ever been issued and if anyone has ever done a e-bay search on this topic you get all the Chinese Fakers out there but there are some that the bids are much higher than the 2.00 auction fakes from China.

The prices in the USA are absolutely ridiculous so when I see some chinese panda auctions from Chinese e-bay sellers with higher auction bids I though just maybe someone here can recommend a honest one. That was it. Hope someone can help.
    Thanks

This is a noble endeavor but Panda's have always had a good secondary market and you are not likely to find older issues anywhere near the prices of past Eagles or Maple Leafs. It is going to cost quite a bit to get the older issues and a good reason to start getting the most recent along the way while they are still reasonable. Have you checked PandAmerica? (Spelling?) I believe they sell Pandas, both new and older issues, and are located in Ca. and are very honest.

In truth, Pandas are one area where I could see an appropriate China-based selling market. It's not unreasonable to think a Chinese citizen with numismatic aspirations would base their business on home issues, just like a Canadian or a Pole or an Australian with their own country's issues. The usual caveats and due diligence required when evaluating any Ebay seller would apply here; you can convincingly fake a short track record but a longer one isn't so easy when approached with a discerning eye. I have no interest in bullion coins, or I'd likely have ready recommendations.

Don't forget the world's largest population lives in China; there could be five times as many Chinese thieves as American ones, and yet still more honest Chinese sellers than American, within whatever limitations (I don't know how it works) their government enforces. I could easily envision the Chinese government having a vested interest in bringing foreign commerce currency into the country.

I've had good dealings with the dealer dingding1975 on eBay for high end certified coins.
