Here are some recent show pickups I made on Sunday at a local show. It was a fun one, saw some new material.

I did the early bird admission and got to go through a bin of 1921 Morgan's that were $25.00 each and I picked out a couple of interesting ones.

Just recently got this one VAMed as a 1921 VAM-31a2 from another thread that @heavycam.monstervam hit out of the park in just a couple of minutes. I'd put it at AU-58 or so.

This was the other one. I VAMed it as a 1921 VAM-51 just before a die break on the reverse between A and M or AMERICA which would have made it VAM-51a.

Then I came across this 1899-O Micro O VAM-6 at another dealers binder. The price was marked at $25.00 so I snagged it.

And from the same dealer, I cherrypicked this 1947-S Washington Quarter S/S RPM FS-502. I think it would go MS-66 fairly easily. I paid $20.00 for it.

And the last pickup was a gorgeous 1912 Lincoln Cent graded MS-64RB by ANACS. It has a spectacular color that is so difficult to photograph.

Is that Linc a newer slab? It's a pretty decent 64.

Yes, it's in the yellow slab. I've noticed that ANACS has gotten pretty conservative with their grading recently. They can be a real bargain now.

I honestly don't much care for their Lincoln grading; this one's an exception.

I've crossed a few NGC $2 1/2 Indians to ANACS, and each one came back graded lower.

Now, if the lincoln or the V31a2 are ever for sale- PM me. I am most interested! I dont really dig lincolns, but 4 some reason i want an 09-16P Short set. They shouldnt break the bank, but i want nice color and good strike, so yours definitely fits the bill.

Wait, why would you do such a thing? I thought everyone hates Anacs (i dont) but still. Were you obviously trying for a higher grade? Even then, so many ppl balk @ Anacs that you would make more $ selling in the 1 grade lower NGC holder right? Or am i way off?

You are correct, ANACS doesn't get the same respect that PCGS/NGC gets and most buyers will consider most ANACS graded coins inferior by at least 1 point. (But things change ) As always, buy the coin, not the slab. You can find some great deals ( price wise ) in ANACS slabs, if you know what you're doing, (Cherry picking ) due to the lower prices on them compared to the "top two". I am hearing that ANACS has become a little tougher on grading lately, so could explain the grade drop. Grading standards seem to be changing constantly, some more strict, some more lenient. To me, unless you need authentication, attribution, or are selling, there is no need to grade anything. IMHO.

The only reason I did it was because ANACS recognized a variety/error that NGC did not. I figured even if it graded a little lower, I could get more money for it if it had the variety/error on the slab (and I did).
