Here are some of my latest provincial finds. Only one from a city I don't already have. Mytilene (AD 253-268) AE 20 Time of Gallienus, 253-268 AD. Bearded head of Zeus Ammon right / MVTIΛHNAIΩN, facing herm of Dionysos on prow, with grape bunch. Phrygia, Hygaleis. Boule and Meandros. Worst portrait of Commodus ever. Hadrianopolis. Demos from Tralleis.
Neat patina on the first two. I want a little hekte from Mytilene! Haven't broken the "electrum barrier" yet. LOL at the Commodus, too. Neat archer reverse.
nice group of provincials! "ugly" commodus is awesome...and i had to look up what a "herm" was...neat as well. if you didn't know either... herm hərm/ noun a squared stone pillar with a carved head on top (typically of Hermes), used in ancient Greece as a boundary marker or a signpost.
Auction wins. I wish I dug these up. Thanks for the compliments. I was hoping to see some Boule or Demos autonomous coins from CT so post em if u got em.
