I've recently discovered a local estate cleanout / consignment store in my area that I have visited maybe 3 times so far. The main reason for visiting this store initially is that it sells firearms, ammo, and accessories (probably not a big surprise if you've noticed my avatar)....

But, it also sells a decent variety of other things, including very old coins and proof sets, as well as paper currency.

Long story short, on a whim, I bought a few things there in the hopes of expanding my tiny collection of coins. Specifically, my US pennies collection.

I picked up three coin folders to help me organize a little bit more:

    United States Cents 1909-1958
Lincoln Penny - Collection No. 2 Starting 1946
Lincoln Memorial Cents - Collection Starting 1959

The nice thing was that each folder already had some pennies in it. Many of which I did not have in my collection yet. Total number of pennies included is 128. Oldest is a 1929. Most interesting (to me) is a bright silver one dated 1943.

At a total price of $9 I couldn't leave it all at the store.

Thanks for reading. I just thought I'd share my find with my CoinTalk family.

    Now, to catalog it all....

At a total price of $9 I couldn't blame you for not leaving it. :)

I'd say make sure to check if they have any US Proof/Mint sets, and to read up on some good varieties that can be found. Might be an opportunity to turn new knowledge into new coin funds.

    Just an FYI:

The 1943 "silver" is zinc plated steel.
