When I have problems finding the coins I really want, I look around for early commemoratives at a good price. Here's my recent pickups:
I believe a full set, not counting the gold issues, is 144 coins. I now have 55, so I'm just a bit over one-third of the way. And I don't have any of the real expensive ones yet. My top two are the Isabella quarter and the Panama-Pacific half.
Thank for sharing them! Kanga there all real Gem's! the BTW are the 1st ones I seen with great toning !!most ether toned to much or are blast white.but yours are great!:thumb:
I always drool when I look at this collection. Chris http://pinnacle-rarities.com/Collections/HiddenLiberty/browse.html
Kanga, I have all 4 of those in my collection, too.. I'm doing a set of commems with Virginia connections.. and any others that I deem especially attractive! I bought the Roanoke because the infant on the reverse, of course, is Virginia Dare. U.S. Grant has Virginia connections, too, but I haven't included his coin since he was an uninvited guest.. but if I find one with the right look, who knows??? The Lynchburg coin, with E.C. Glass on it, seems especially pertinent these days, since some feel that the current financial crisis might not have been so severe if the Glass-Stigall Act had not been repealed. (I just cracked mine out of its PCGS MS65 holder to give it an acetone bath, as it had been slabbed by PCGS with active PVC).
