Go to a coin club meeting with your parents and see what is available. Also cultivate some of the tellers at your bank or credit union then give them the routine about just starting out as a paper money collector and see what takes place. It also helps to smile and try and be polite. Can't hurt.
My experience with tellers, even ones I have known for years, know what to look for....for themselves!!! They are not as dumb about the value of certain kinds of bills and coins and cull them out unless you are very lucky to have one that will set them aside for you. I ask all the time about stuff and only once was I lucky enough to get something. On the other hand, I have ordered packs of $2 bills just to search through them. Unless your bank will specifically ask for new bills for you, you get a mix of used and some mint bills in the packs. You might get lucky ordering some so it's worth a try. But I don't return them to the same branch....when you are done going through them take them to a different branch of you don't want to spend them.
Waste of time. You'll be lucky if the bank doesn't charge you to re-deposit those deuces. Tellers at my credit union always got "something" for me; I smile gamely and take those 1990s Canadian quarters, knowing if I ever refuse any, game's over.

I really like the folks at my bank, I just hit my 53rd Red 2 since 2006, Great Gals, Re-deposit had not thought about...
I think if the people at the bank like you...you can re-deposit there. Just don't do it every week. Just tell them, you are a collector and you want to go through the bills as a hobby and then cash the one's you don't want back in. I have done this and they were fine with it. Having been a bank teller, this doesn't really increase the work load. I think as long as you are upfront with them...and they like you. There won't be any issue.
