My theory, dependent on the actual location, is one of two based on John Hunt Morgan's famous raid and the date ranges. First, buried by the property owners if word reached them in time or by one of the calvarymen to retrieve at a later time. As an admirer and reseacher I've traced his exploits visiting many sites over the years, from Kentucky to Indiana to Ohio. Adding credibility to my theory are numerous documented articles of small to sizable hoards of silver found west of Pittsburgh, PA towards the Ohio River where locals have stated this very reasoning why they were hiden.
Interesting stuff. I used to be a Civil War buff. I've read Shelby Foote's trilogy of history of the war but he didn't go off track into interesting side stories. Even at that, reading his 3 volumes was exhaustive and I'm sure the same for the author. It took him 15 years to create all 3 books. Do you have any links to your documented finds? I'm interested. Thanks in advance. This kind of thing really sparks my interest.

Holy Crap! I just love stories like this. It gives other people hope of good fortunes. Can't wait to watch it if it's available.
