real tone morgan or AT?

    This coin caught my eye because of the prooflike surface but im a little leary of the tone do you all think this is real or artifical?

    I find the toning on that coin to be distracting and personally don't think it is market acceptable. Since there is no premium associated with that type of toning, IMO, you should consider dipping the coin. And these words come from one of the staunchest toning enthusiast you will find.

    I've seen better toning on petrified acidic bird poop on top of my car. :eek:

    I agree i just know if i dip there are some spots that will remain because you can see they are deep spots not sire if they are copper spots or something else...i hae dipping!!!te

    I agree with Lehigh. IMHO, the toning (especially on the obverse) appears very uneven and artificial, and appears "out-of-order" in terms of the common color spectrum of toning that is seen on Morgans. The reverse has an intense shine on it (based off your pictures), so I'm inclined to think it has been cleaned as well.

    I'm still wondering how much affect the lack of a proper white balance is skewing our perception of the coin in question?

    Edit to add that I dough if anything is natural with that coin.
