You guys are great and that's why I'm coming here. From the pictures, do you think this coin is real or fake? I don't have the coin in hand, so can't weigh it. Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

Looks fake. Take a blowup of the lump on the cap under the "N." Not too close so we can still see the field and the "N."

Like I said above, I don't have it in hand, so I can't get a close up. I also thought it looked fake and wanted others opinions.

One need look no further than the softness of the details, without any corresponding sign of "wear." This is best illustrated by the eagle's breast, which appears to show all of the feathers, yet they're so faint as to seem barely struck. This is not how a weak strike manifests. Now, we compare this to the obverse, where the hair and cotton bolls look "circulated" down to XF level, at which point most of those reverse feathers should have been worn away and the wingtips - which wear early - should have started flattening yet they still seem complete. The leaves in the wreath seem also "worn" into XF, yet those wings are untouched....

It is in this disparity of wear indicators where you should be seeing the red flags. One set of images does not make for certainty, but I have no confidence in the authenticity of this coin.

What about three dollar bills? There are lots of genuine three dollar bills.

The rim on the reverse doesn't look right at all.
