I'm leaning towards authentic as the metal looks descent. Something looks a little funny with it, maybe the chocolate pudding patina? Not in hand yet. Curious to know your thoughts.

I see nothing about it that suggests it is anything but genuine and the patina actually only reinforces that opinion. For the right price I'd consider buying it.

It does appear to have Tyche or Fortuna on the reverse but that's about all I can offer.....since I seem to be having difficulty finding similar examples on acsearch at the moment. Have you tried any other 'resources' ???

Perhaps the struck at attribution is incorrect??

The reverse figure appears to be holding a scale so I think it is Dikaiosyne (or whatever the equivalent deity name may be for that city or culture). As for the city, I don't know. Can you make out any of the letters on the reverse?

Mikey Zee and TIF, That is good news! The seller I purchased from stated that it might be a contemporary fake. That and the soft details scared people away. THANK YOU

I found the ID at RPC online for Mytilene, my first provincial from there. The reverse inscription is MYTILHNAIWN.

Hard to tell by an image. Many times "patina" is added to cover something up. Style is important, though I'm not very familiar with Mytilene coinage the style for the period look good.

I tried to find some examples but none of 'Antoninus' like your OP. However, I agree with 'B-F' and the 'styling' seems consistent for the type. I hope the others can be of more help.

This sounds more correct than Tyche.

RPC has an coin that is better than mine. What you see as a scale is the "I" in the inscription underneath the patera. I'll post pic when I get home to my computer tonight.

    What is OP?

OP = original post or the coin that started the thread. Sometime we get carried away and have shown many coins that may or may not be related so OP means we are returning to the original question.
