    I have started this blog to share information about Indian Coins, their denominations, metallic compositions etc.

    Denomination : After independence coins generally circulated in following denominations.

    Old System(from 1947 to 1957)

    One Pice
    Half Anna
    Anna
    Two Annas
    1/4 th Rupee
    1/2 Rupee
    1 Rupee

    Conversions
    3 Pies = 1 Pice (Paisa)
    4 Pice = 1 Anna
    16 Annas = 1 Rupee


    New system started from 1957 having following denominations;
    One Paisa(New Paisa)
    Two Paise
    Three Paise
    Five Paise
    Ten Paise
    Twenty Paise
    Twenty Five Paise
    Fity Paise
    One Rupee
    Two Rupees
    Five Rupees
    Ten Rupees - UNC, Proofs, Commemorative
    Twenty Rupees - UNC, Proofs, Commemorative
    Fifty Rupees - UNC, Proofs, Commemorative
    One Hundred Rupees - UNC, Proofs, Commemorative



    Coins of above denominations minted from various Indian and Foreign Mints including
    Bombay with "." (dot) mint mark
    Calcutta with no mint mark
    Hyderabad with Star mint mark
    Noida with Diamond mint mark etc.
