RE- POST - 1862 Half Dime Proof?

    Hello folks! [edit - I meant to say REPOST, not REPORT in title]

    I think I posted this in the wrong section last night...

    Please look at the pics below and tell me if I have found an 1862 proof half dime.

    The rims are what is catching my attention here as they look strongly struck. Likewise the lettering is magnificant!

    Also, can folks venture a guess at the condition and price (I think there were only 550 of these made)

    No I do not think it is a Proof. If you'd like an opinion on the coin folks would have an easier time if you posted pics of the entire coin as opposed to pics of parts of the coin. And using a loupe like that often makes the pics out of focus.

    Believe it or not rims like that and PL surfaces are typical on the 1862 half dimes. I know when I bought mine it took me awhile to convine myself that it was NOT a proof. They do look that good.

    That is a beautiful coin, but it is not a proof. The devices and rim would be much more defined.
