Rather odd damage to penny

    I originally thought this penny was sanded down, but the edges aren't worn like the rest of the penny. Does anyone know what happened to this penny?

    Possible dryer coin.
    Hard to tell with zinc because they self destruct in 10 seconds.

    Looks like a dryer coin... 1982 or later ZLincoln showing some zinc
