Tried to find this in my Krause catalog, no luck. 5 Kopek. Anyone aware of fakes like this floating around out there?? Even remote chance it's real? No punches or hallmarks stamped in it like the fake Siberian pieces out there...,,
Sold for $150,000 back in 2007, --or a real one did. Doesn't look any different from mine really. http://www.numismat.ru/cgi-bin2/cat_view.cgi?id=1008
This is an experimental pattern coin with Saint Petersburgs city emblem. 2 more patterns were made, with Moscow and Siberia emblems. Your coin is extremely rare, it would be very hard to image this is a real one, since in 1990s fake were mass produced. How about edge photo and exact weigt?
Actually, upon closer inspection it is quite a bit different from the one that sold in 2007, the crown above the monogram in particular. I would say 95% sure it's bogus at this point.
KM PN16 as written on the flip in my Krause has a different reverse to this one. A partial picture shows the reverse has a horse and rider.
The general crudeness of it compared to the one from 2007 auction is a sure sign this is a modern copy.
