Rare Mexican Gold Olympic Commemorative: What Should I do?

Hey guys, I have a rare 22k gold Olympic commemorative medallion, made for the 1968 games. There's very little info out there about this coin, but it was made by Numismatica Iberia, one of the leading private mints in Mexico. I'm including a link to pictures and more info below. I don't think I want to sell it as it was given to my dad, and from my dad to me, but I am curious about two things. 1) Would PCGS or NGC grade such a thing? If so, it might be worth it should I ever want to sell it, as the buyer would be assured of its authenticity. On the other hand, then it would not be in its original wallet anymore. What would you do? 2) Since it's an obscure Olympic commemorative, I'm wondering what the best marketplace would be if I ever chose to sell it. I could sell it for bullion, but I assume an Olympic commemoratives collector would appreciate it more. Where do those types of buyers tend to hang out? Thank you for your thoughts. Here's a link to pictures and info on the medallion:

Well you can buy them from the very site you linked so you have a ballpark value there (£398.00) so youre looking at about 620$...The bad news is I dont think its conisdered rare nor do I think it would get slabbed by PCGS nor NGC...the good news is gold is near all time highs. IMO if its a keepsake, just enjoy it as is. It has a nice design and makes a cool conversation piece or memoir. If an emergency came about it could bail you out but I wouldnt expect to make a killing. All that said Ive never seen one, dont know anything about it other than you can buy them from your link so I may very well be wrong.

Thanks, mumu. The UK dealer I linked to has only one of them, and that's the only place I've ever seen one for sale in 10 years. I'm basing the rarity on the fact that it isn't listed in any of the catalogs including the Mexican ones. I guess I'm wondering if there's a forum that caters more to Olympic commemorative coin collectors relative to the other coin forums, just so I can show it to folks who are interested in that sort of thing

If its from a "private mint" then its not a coin, its a medal. Coin book will not list this item, any more than they list Franklin Mint pieces made in the US. A coin is a "coin" only if made by a government and designated legal tender.

I believe that distinction may help you find more info about the piece, and find the appropriate audience for valuation purposes.

I get that, it is considered a medallion. There are guidebooks for such and it's not listed in them, I didn't mean the ones for coins

Any information anyone could provide is greatly appreciated. I have stumbled upon the very same medallion as well and would like to know as much as possible.
