Hi, thank you all in advance. I'm new to all this but love it so far. This is probably the worst 1914 penny ever. Curious if you can help me a bit since I'm new. Thanks. Pics coming soon. iPhone issues. Thanks.
Dear God, I have to agree, one of the worst wheat cents I've ever seen. It's worth melt, about 3 cents.
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, as well as ugliness too. lol There is no one that collects the worst conditioned coins? I may be the first. lol. Thanks.
People do collect low grade coins in what's called a "low ball set". However, they don't collect damaged and corroded coins like this. Personally, I'd toss this back into circulation for a non-collector to find. It might get them interested in the hobby....especially if it's a kid that finds it.
Actually, some people compete heavily in "low ball" registry sets. Meaning, putting together a set of the lowest possible graded coins. Although this coin would not make a grade due to damage I believe. edit: Curse you Thad, you beat me to it.
For some reason it's the coolest coin I found so far probably because it's so messed up looking. You may be right, it got me to finally join this forum.
