I will randomly pick the winner myself with the story that most interests me Alright, let the contest begin! Let the deadline be a week from now, Saturday the 14th. I'll announce the winner Sunday Simply contest really, so might as well join in and do it! Post pictures as well, that will help lets see some dream coins! Oh and sorry but this contest is only for people who live in the US! And I thought I'd add my own dream coin as well! http://www.coinfacts.com/colonial_coins/fugio_cents/fugio_cents.htm It's the Fugio cent... a coin I've been wanting ever since I began collecting. I have almost bought quite a few in the past, but am very picky and am just patiently waiting for the right one to come my way.
A dream coin set that I started this year... is that I will pick up money I find on the ground all year long, mostly coins and a few bills. At the end of the year, I will use that money to buy next years ATB silver set. Hopefully with money left over to buy another nice coin.
A realistic dream coin I plan to get is a normal mercury dime. I plan to get it for this contest. (just kidding, actual dream coin will be coming up soon)
i would love to have cent some where under 1809 in ms condition cant afford it but maybe one day i will get lucky and get one i just think they are really cool but if they dont show the hair lines i dont think they look so good
I hope to get a 1/2 cent for a reasonable price. I am hoping to get a job over the summer, and get a pretty one.
My dream is a complete P D S set of Rhode Island 300th anniversary commemorative half dollars in MS 68. I will someday, before I die, have them! Oh, thank you for editing out the spam, and for the contest.
My dream coin is a barber. A barber of any type! I have yet to find one... My coin collection is STRICTLY things I find from boxes/rolls from circulation, or things that I get through trades with other wonderful members of this forum. I don't like the idea of purchasing coins for more than face value - I have yet to do so, and my collection is already pretty impressive I'd love to find a barber dime or half soon...
My Dream coin is not a big coin but I want a shinny Morgan Dollar any year with the reverse rainbow toned and thanks for the contest and Good luck everyone!!!
I would say a 1943 copper penny. Funny story, When I was 6 I went in to my local grocery store and bought a soda with my dad the lady ended up giving me back some change on one of which was a very shiny penny. My dad gave it to me and joked I should hold onto it. When we were out in the car he realized it was a wheat penny and didn't have a single mark on it. So we got home sealed it up and that was the end of it.... Anyways long story short, nearly 20 years later I was going through where I use to have my old coins and all but a few of the packages were empty. I think I probably turned them in to a bank or something, no idea. Anyways the nice shiny penny? The package it was in said 1943- Copper BU!!!! No one else in my family collected coins so they don't know if it was real, a fake, or just mislabeled! But I have never stopped wondering!!! It is now my mission to get a real 1943-copper penny. I know I will pay like crazy for one, but one day I'll have one!!
I think I would have to go for a proof Morgan Dollar. Any year really, a nice blast white one would do just fine. I guess a lot of saving and it is a possibility or selling off some of my other silver one day. I still have 93-s to work on and 16-D Merc to buy. I feel the 16-D is inching closer to reality.
For a number of years now I have re-started collecting coins. One coin I have REALLY wanted for all that time and some time before that is a Tetradrachm of Alexander the Great. Not the rarest coin in the world, but for some reason the design is to me one of the most beautiful I have seen. This is one from e-bay that sells for a mere $7,000 which is a bit above my budget. One with the head of mercury on it would be nice too. I will continue to haunt e-bay and see the ones I can afford until I can luck into a good one.
my dream coin is the edward i class 1b penny. it's such a dream that i have only seem a picture in a reference book and have never seen one for sale. what am i doing to obtain one?? hoping i win the lottery before i see one for sale at stack's, heritage, sotheby's, etc.
My dream coin, ahh a topic I love to talk about My dream coin is a MS68 Mercury dime. I do not plan on buying a slabbed MS68 merc, but to find one raw and buy it as a raw undergraded coin. And then send it in for grading. I doubt it will happen any time soon, but it most definitely will happen. If not me, then somebody else
I think my dream coin would have the be the 1969 s mark double die. That one has always interested me. Its still possible that its in cirrculation, and I always check for them in my pocket change. Buying one would probably be out of my price range, as it tends to run high on a pay scale (I think... Its been a while since I've looked at it).
My dream coin is a 90% Kennedy half. I intend on getting one by going around everyday with a metal detector searching until I find one.
My dream coin, huh?.... thats a difficut question. There are SO many amazing coins out there (the incredibly vast majority of which a don't own and never plan to own). But in the end, only one outstanding coin comes to mind: the 1856 flying eagle cent. This coin single handedly instigated my love for coin collecting I was just 10 years old and I still find myself day dreaming about it sometimes... how cool it would be to complete my collection of flying eagles, to have one whose final didget is a 6 insted of a 7 or 8... opps, sorry, just drooled a bit there One day the magestic bird of my dreams will be mine, C.J.
My dream coin is an 1849 double eagle. There are 2 ways I will try to get it, both will probably not succeed, and one I will be sharing as a joke. If you use your common sense, you can tell which one is a joke. 1. I will take a plane to a small city around 30 miles away to washington D.C and rent a car there. I will not fly to D.C because that is evidence. I will then for the next 2 weeks stay in the smithonian in the bathroom until closing time. Then, I will watch the guards secretly with camouflage video cameras in order to watch how they check. After the 2 weeks, I will sneak out of the bathroom by using the credit card trick on the locked door. I will then sneak over to the coin section, and hide there for the next 10 minutes right next to my dream coin to ensure the most amount of time to break in. I then will cut the glass open in a certain way so the sensors will not catch me. Then, I will take the beautiful coin and replace it with a counterfeit. I will seal the glass and run back to my bathroom hiding spot, completely unseen because of the videos I put inside the cameras that were from the past. I will then fly back to my home, completely undiscovered. 2. I will start up a computer company, create shiny gadgets, make billions, and buy the coin for a gigantic price. if the coin actually got stolen, I am not responsible for it. it is was a joke.
I must admit that I have several "dream" coins. The one that has stuck out the most lately is a beautifully toned Oregon Trail Comm. like the photo below. I saw this particular image and was immediately filled with the "gotta have it" feeling. I have been watching auctions and the nicely toned examples seem to go in the 1000-1500 range. I have been waiting, hoping to snag one for a great price, but it seems like I may be forced to pay full toned premiums.
