I found a coin that reminded me of one I paid $3000 for back in '03 and lost my shirt. This one went for less...debating whether to eat the $100 and send it back to teletrade...what would YOU do? URL::rolling: http://www.teletrade.com/coins/lot.asp?auction=2176&lot=1700
Howdy buffet - Welcome to the Forum !! Since you're asking, I'd send it back. Yeah, it's a pretty coin and would probably deserve a premium. But THAT MUCH of a premium ? I like toned coins as much as anybody, but even I have a limit as to how much I would be willing to pay for one. Especially when an untoned example graded 2 grades higher - MS66 - sells for a fraction of the cost. CLICK HERE And here is a gorgeously toned example, again in MS66, that you could have bought for half the price you paid for the Teletrade coin. CLICK HERE I will agree that toning is a subjective preferrence and that what appeals to one may not appeal to another, but I think this coin is even prettier - just my opinion. So yeah, I'd send it back.
Hi, I just got off the phone with Teletrade. They will allow me to return the coins via registered mail with NO penalty. So I escape the bullet THIS time. Thanks.
Glad to hear of the happy ending buffet. Now if I may make a suggestion - do a bit of research before bidding next time. Or - just ask here

Buffet, welcome to the board! Just to get the story straight...so, you are the one that bought the coin on Teletrade for $1,850 + fees? And what, you bought an example of the same year/mintmark/graded coin back a few years ago for $3000?, or was it a different year/MM/graded coin back in '03? Teletrade does have pretty good return policies. I like buying things on Teletrade, but I'll tell you what, some of the bidding for certain items has gotten out of hand lately. I just have to take a step back and make sure not to get too caught up in the frenzy. e.g. I've been watching some Walking Liberties lately and they've been going for a good 1/3 more over what they went for a month or so ago.
