A customer just came into my shop with a 1982 Roosy dime. It appears to have a railroad rim. Can anyone tell me if this is a legit error?
    Thanks

not an error, environmental damage, it sat in a corrosive environment which ate away the softer copper between the clad layers...

I think it's been done by someone. Or something. Doesn't looks like a rail road rim.

A "railroad rim" or partial collar error will only have the extended flange on one side (and the extended flange will not show reeding). What this shows is what I call the "oreo cookie effect" from being soaked in a corrosive solution. The copper "creme filling" is attacked faster by the corrosive and recedes leaving the coppernickel "cookies" extending past it.

Damaged. Period. Only worth face value.

    I agree.. Damaged
The Copper core erroded away enough to create the look. Not a Mint Error.

Thank you all for your input! Guess it's not a "retirement " coin ☺
