The color we see on coins is very important for both grading and authentication. Please write a brief description of this coin's colors. What caused it?
This was a tough one. I'm goin to post one more hint Monday. For now, I'll add that the coin's surface shows three different colors that did not carry over to my OP. Most of the coin is one color gold. Then there are the reddish smudges shown at two places on both sides. What does not show very well is a lighter gold color all around the coins rim on both sides. One thing to take away from this quiz so far is there is something "fishy." Yhe coin is not original.
Yes, ex-jewelry. The dark spots are on four places around the coin where the prongs were. Coins removed from jewelry are often polished or have a change of color on their rims.
