Today I decided to put the coins away and stop my addiction to Cointalk. To many that is cheerful news but school is getting harder and harder with college credits. I consider Cointalk my greatest find of 2009, it has educated me through all of the members' constructive comments. I attribute CT my number 1 source of coin knowledge and will miss it dearly. Thanks again for being the best community of coin collectors and sharing your experiences. See you all when school lets out! Thanks, Henry

Buying coins can be difficult, especially when going to school or suffering from a downturn in the economy.

Many of us enjoy the study of coins and the history behind them without actually buying the coins. It's a nice escape from the pressures and stresses of work or school. As a student (or a spouse, parent, or whatever), one needs balance in life to succeed.

I recommend making Cointalk a smaller but still enjoyable escape from the rigors of school.

Thanks. I see your point but I am a sophomore in High School taking college credits and it is way too much work with me frequenting CT.

Gotta feellin' you're gonna be checkin' in now and then. ;)

It's OK to take a break and concentrate on your major priorities in life. Education is of the utmost importance in todays world. You seem focused and determined to succeed with your educational endeavors. That's admirable and shows maturity and wisdom on your part. Good luck with the studies and as The Duke said, we'll leave a light on for ya....:D

You know you don't have to frequent CT. You could really just check things out once in a while. Might be a little break in what your doing and make it easier when you go back to study what you were doing. Sometimes over kill in anything is on the pointless side and occationally works in reverse. By that I mean to much of one thing could make your mind a little on the foggy side.
An occational argument or desagreement with someone here may just be what you end up really needing.
And I remember well what you are going through. Been there, done that too.

Fare thee well, I agree that we will be here whenever you chose to return and this site was my greatest web find of 2008 :)

  13. There were many times in my life that I prioritized my education and other things were put on hold for a short time. IMO, you are making a wise choice and personal investment. Good luck with your classes this term. TC

My getting your priorities in line and focusing on your education, you will probably put your self in a better position later in life to have more $$$$ for coins. So this is a short term decesion for a long term benifit.

eek. I remember this. I had only a few AP classes my sophomore year but my junior and senior year in high school were completely composed of them. I stopped collecting for about two years. When you go to college, you are absolutely going to love the fact that you worked your ass off in high school. It allows you to get much more bang for your buck when college bills start piling up. I was able to add another major and a minor to my degree because of my credits, yet I pay the same as anyone else going for four years for one degree.

You better check in once in awhile. I didn't and have been catching up on tons and tons of things I wish I never missed.

Good decision I think, but the better decision is being able to know where your priorities are. Come aknockin any time.

Good luck with your school work, and best wishes to you.

You may find, like a lot of people, that your interest in coins must be put aside for a while but if you once enjoyed it, you'll come back to enjoy it again in the future. It might be only a few years, or a lot of years, but I can almost guarantee you that you'll be back.
