Been gone for a while, way to busy... Here's a new pick up... Quintillius...270..AD.. AE..Antoninianus.. Ob..radiate draped cuirassed bust right.. Rev.Fides in military, standing left, holing standard in each hand. Officina Mark S EX = 2 19mm x 3.16g...
That's a fine example of a coin from a very brief emperor - two weeks in the saddle was it? I wonder if he holds the record for shortest reign. It's Quintillus, by the way - easy to throw in that superfluous "i" - makes it sound more Latin.
Great Coin Eng! Amazingly, no, he didnt have the shortest reign! A few upsurpers had 2-3 day reigns, a few emperors had shorter reigns!
Actually yours is pretty decent too, Paddy. The antoniniani of Quintillus mostly come in low grades. This is what ERIC says, and it's easily corroborated with a search on vcoins or eBay...
Thanks for that - I am glad you like it. As with many I have it is much better in hand than the scan would suggest. One day I must get sorted out with a decent camera.
Claudius' younger brother... Even he had the purple for very short time, his coins are not that rare... I got 11 ex for sale (range 35 - 75$)...
