Bah!!!! all that canadian money looks like monopoply money. It sure is a low number but I dont think that adds value as much as novelty. Its all about what someone is willing to pay.

a low serial does add value. collectorsd are always looking for the coveted first note #1! i do not know te value, but if it is worth it to you, then bid higher. I spent over $100 for a graded note with the serial of 1600. I liked the conotations of it being 1600 pennsylvania avenue (address of the US White House). but some of the other bidders didnt care about that, they just liked it being a low serial. The note i bought was a 1957 silver certificate as well, so it had age helping the value.

So basicaly, it all comes down to what you are willing to pay for it. If you just want it because it looks cool, then i would think you already think its gone too high. If you want to collect it because you doubt you would ever see a loewer serial - then grab it, because lower serials wont come around anytime soon. Just think, there are only 6 notes with a lower serial!!!

But is it really added value???? Or is the added value based on the novelty of it all and depends solely on how bad the bidders want it????

You are a member of a small minority of numismatists who pay premiums for currency with low serial numbers. Asking those of us who don't see any extra value on that basis for opinions on what to bid is like asking a pit bull breeder's group for an opinion on the value of a particular Siamese cat.

Isnt that what creates value on anything? being whatever someone is wiling to pay? i know that point can get argued on either side of the point.... but that is what value is.

I agree with that. I agree completely. Im just asking if theres more to it than that. And Im pointing out that thats what the added value is based on, so theres no way of labeling a specific price to it.
Its a tough call to determine how much to bid. And its Impossible to determine how much it could be sold for.

I'm going to start hovering over heritage. Gonna start my cents in MS-63 and up. And also lincolns cents and Morgans too
