I'm not certain, but I think there is a match to your coin on FAC's Fake Ancient Coin Report: http://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/displayimage.php?album=search&cat=0&pos=1
Are you asking if it is fake? It appears to be a die match: http://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/displayimage.php?pos=-15233
I concur with the other opinions that this is a fake. I've seen a few of these from this same die pair. Thankfully the forger made a few errors that make this stand out even from photos alone if you know what to look for. One surefire sign here is the absence of the quadriga wheel and the weird way the design is cut off before the line border starts at 7-8 o'clock on the reverse. This is an area where the forger transferred the design and the cut a new border without engraving the actual portion of the reverse design that was off flan on the host coin. These coins have in some cases made it through major dealers unfortunately. Here's one sold a couple years back by Bertolami and I've seen an example on Vcoins some time ago as well. Edit: actually the Bertolami example might be the exact same coin that OP posted. At any rate, still a forgery
ty redspork. I trust the dealer. I just spoke to him - he said he got it from a relative of his and he wasn't sure about it to begin with. I am getting my money back. thanks again!
THanks for the clarification. My eyes knew something was wrong, but reading your explanation explains to my brain what my eyes were saying, if that makes any sense.
