I purchased this bronze a while back and assumed it was a scarcer type from Irenopolis Cilicia with a club on the obverse and a winged caduceus on the reverse. The size at 15mm fit well with this issue but when I got it home and looked more closely the obverse inscription was all wrong. It's a quiet Sunday and my football team is awful so I was hoping some Greek experts (or those who won't admit they are experts) will help on this one.

Not in the best of shape but here's the bad pic:

The obverse inscription of an Irenopolis should just read the town name: This one (starting from lower left) reads KAI()AP€ - (monogram) AW()

The reverse is €TOYC - (date)

Any help would be appreciated. And BTW, my team is the ... Browns.

Definitely a neat one Brian. Unfortunately I'm a noob with Greek coins in general so also no clue here.

Many thanks to your team from the Houston Texans for taking our quarterback from last year.
I agree the coin looks like this one from CILICIA, Irenopolis-Neronias (lot 163 of CNG e195). But...the letters do not match. Good luck.

RPC Online lists a 2.56g bronze from Anazarbus that uses the club/caduceus type with the obverse legend ΚΑΙСΑΡ ΑΝΑΖΑ: http://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/3/3374/
Unfortunately, no picture to accompany the listing. SNG Tahberer lists several small bronzes from around the time of Trajan with different types but obverse legends that may fit your coin - variations of KAICAPEWN ANAZAP - with monogram very much like your coin between :

@zumbly : Thanks! Although there are differences in legend and date I'm pretty sure that's the correct city.

@rrdenarius : Thanks for the draft pick, although it's kind of wasted on this team

Cool coin!! I can't offer any further information but as a New York fan I definitely 'feel your pain'. My Jets were supposed to be giving the Browns a run for their money for the #1 draft choice, now it looks like the Giants will--- go figure LOL
