    Hi everyone,

As some of you know I have been going over a large haul of one cents. Now I´m intersted in errors and have done my best to figure out somethings on my own.

I see that the mintmarks are different on some coins. I have a 1952 D witht the D tilted. A 1953 with the S almost touching the 5. If you have some info for me I would appriciate it and also i´m looking for a site that shows pictures of errors I can look for.

    As always thanks :)

1989 and prior - mint marks were punched into working dies by hand. The vast field for placement of the mint mark on the Lincoln Cent design leads to significant deviation in its placement from working die to working die. I fact I am of the opinion that it would be very rare for a mint mark to be placed in the exact location and identical orientation on two different working dies in the same year.

Now that you know the mint mark will vary in location, you can put that aside and look for repunched mint marks or RPM.

Don't put it aside - keep it in mind. Mint mark location is key to attributing RPMs. Heck just about every mint marked die variety.
