So I won a GB Crown from an online auction... about VF description stated old cleaning retoned. I am going to post first the pics from the auction then the ones I took. After that I’ll pose my question because I don’t want to color anyone’s opinions on the coin without seeing both sets of photos then asking my question. Thank you! So to me this looks polished and artificially toned. Am I correct on that? If so do you feel that it should have been mentioned in the description? Also do you feel the original photos really show it? Thank you all!!!
It has an old cleaning and the coin retoned (looks natural to me) over it. With that said, the photos that the seller uploaded were deceptive in that they hid the cleaning. IMO that is reason enough to return the coin if you can. Edit- I didn't see that the seller had listed it as a cleaned/retoned coin. In that case I'd still return it under conditions that the pics were deceitful.
Definitely looks polished! The sellers pic don't show anything wrong with the coin at all. The seller probably knew the coin had been polished, he was partially honest by stating it had been cleaned and retoned. Partially honest isn't always good enough! If you can return it, go for it!
