how many RPMs are there for the lincoln cents? And what are the dates? I'm going to try my best to start a set of these, cause they intrigue me for some reason. Thanks ahead of time.

I believe the count is currently in the thousands. Coppercoins.com has some very useful information about Lincoln varieties.

Yes there are a lot of RPM's and more are being found. A great reference book is The RPM Book, Second Edition: Lincoln Cents by James Wiles, PHD. Excellent photography of each RPM listed, and very detailed descriptions.;)

Thanks! I right now I'll use copper coins, but I'm thinking of buying that book. Will cost me a bit of change, but I think it'll be worth it in the long run. Thanks, both of you!

Why not limit your RPM collection to coins in the same year with opposite RPMs, ie.: 1938 Buffalo nickels - D/S and S/D?

I thought of that, and I might do that in the future, but right now what I want to do is do a set of RPM Lincoln cents, 59-date, and do the wheats as best as I can. Some of those can get pricey lol. But that is a good suggestion, I might do that to. Thanks.

One of the nice things about coppercoins.com is you can join their forum, ask any questions you want, post photos of your RPM's, see photos of numerous RPM's. The person on that forum has taken about 10,000 of just Lincoln Cents. Great books also and there are two editions out now and maybe more to come.

The RPM book is great!...I have it and love to just look through it and check my coins.

i started in the hobby as an adult with a collection of Lincoln cents pulled from circulation. there are so many RPM's that it's just not healthy to try and keep up. my collection runs the gambit, from AG to AU - i'm slowly adding MS grade coins to the Memorial series - one day there will be no more Lincoln cents and i'll be sitting on a copperclad mine of them ;)

start over at coppercoins.com and then pick up a book on 2 on the subject. you'll waste days looking at your penny cache after reading each resource. i know i did.

Try putting together a set of TOP 100 rpm,s. I have been working on a set of the Top 100 Jefferson nickels
rpm's. There's a Top 100 for Lincoln rpm's too. But like you say they can get very Pricey
