    I found a 1982 penny with a letter error in the word God it has an upside down G were the o should be it looks like G9D ne one have any answers about it thanks a bunch: )

    The most likely explanation is that the lower left curvature of the 'O" had damage that moved the metal upward to resemble the lower loop of a "9". But that is just a guess until we could actually see the coin photo. You might use a magnifier to see if there are any scrapes of the metal in that area. It takes very little force to move the thin copper that makes up the lettering.

    I'm betting that it is PMD. It's not that hard for part of a letter or number to get "pushed" out of position across the surface. I'll wait for photos to be sure. Please try to give us a decent close-up.
