What is the best way to get high quality pictures of my coins on my computer. I have a digital camera but can't seem to get really good pictures. I have an all in one printer/copier/scanner but the scan function really doesn't do a great job. Recommendations on a high quality scanner or digital camera and what would be the proper way to to do it would be greatly appreciated. A belated Merry Christmas to all!
Tripod, diffused lighting, macro setting are a start. There are MANY threads on photography in the forum. A simple search yielded this good thread covering everything: Taking Coin Photo's LINK
Thanks for the link. I will make sure and do the search feature next time. I think I will try the epson perfection scanner mentioned in the thread. Seems to be the cheapest method that could yield good results.
Have a look at GDJMSP's advice to me in this thread: http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=10840 It's a neat way of getting luster and relief details with a scanner, and it works.
Ok..Got me an Epson Perfection Flatbed Scanner at Best Buy for about 100 bucks. Also bought on Ebay a Canon Powershot SD400 5.0 Megapixel camera. Guy at Bestbuy took a picture of a quarter with at that camera and it came out really nice. Thanks for everyones advise.
