Question On StrikeThrough

    Could the Feeder Finger have caused this error ( strikethrough ) .

    Oh, yeah, I definitely agree its a strike through.

    Just not a feeder finger.

    Usually with die abrasion parts of the elements are missing and I'm not saying that here

    Not necessarily. It depends on how deep the elements are. This abrasion is to the fields - which are the highest points of the die. In the area on your coin, the surrounding elements are pretty high relief, comparatively, so it would take a *deep* abrasion to affect them. In the article linked, it shows an abrasion around Washington's eye, which is a very low relief portion of the design.

    The bigger key here is the series of deep gouges which go *under* the design elements. That implies this was something affecting the surface of the die.
