I am seeing GSA CC Morgans on E-bay and some of the listings say things like holder hinges loose ect. I thought all the Mint GSA Holders were sealed is that correct or has someone maybe switched out the coin? Ice

Far as I know, there are no "hinges" on these holders. The fact that someone is reporting something "loose" leads me to believe the packaging has been tampered with.....

I've seen several that have reported loose covers so I now know to stay far far away from the loose ones. Ice

I'm guessing the Hinge's are the box ones that hold the lid together with the bottom of the box. And not talking about the plastic part of the holder itself.

I think this is what the seller was talking about. Not the GSA holder itself, but the blue and silver cardboard box the holder comes in. The hinge that holds the top and bottom together is a piece of paper, it's very common for those to be weak, or broken all together.

Yep. There are many collectors that like the box's as much as the coins.

Heck, I'd settle for the coin itself (OGP). Never thought of the box....

That is right on the money. I have a few of these and the outer box has a paper strip or "hinge" of sorts. Think of it as a clam shell. The paper has come loose on one of mine, probably because i enjoy looking at it so much.

I want the whole deal COA box and Coin in GSA holder. It is a birthday present for me and the wife said get it if you want so I am studing the coins and looking really hard at all the coins on ebay some seem a bit shady with bad pictures. I haven't picked one to bid on just yet waiting to find what I want. It will be my first CC coin. Ice

If you want the complete package with coa be aware that there are a few different types of GSA packaging. The GSA holders marked uncirculated have a coa with serial number. The first two digits of the serial number should match the last two digits in the coins date. For example an 1882 cc GSA morgan dollar should have a coa with the serial number beginning in 82. Dollars not in the uncirculated holders have a generic coa without a serial number and will also have another supplementary piece of documentation. In the original GSA auctions these dollars were in the Mixed cc category. The point is make sure you know what you are looking for before you buy.

Happens all the time. Just reglue the strip on the box and you will be OK
