Hi Everyone, I have been looking at this 58 and also at a 56 this weekend and trying to confirm if it is infact a double die date, or just machine doubling, both coins show the same, but the 58 looks to be more flat with a wide spread?? I have looked at coppercoins and also at Ken Potters site but have not been able to find any close matches, Any Help and info would be great Thank You all.
I doubt that it's a doubled die. One way you can learn faster what one is is to go to a coin show, look at the dealer's tables and find a few that are idenified as noted examples of doubled dies. Ask if you can look at them. Who knows, if the price is reasonable, you might actually like one enough to buy one. If not, at least you've started looking and seeing what real doubling is. You can't learn what it isn't without knowing what it is.
Hi Kasia, Thank You for your reply, I have found a few double die most recent was (4) 1964 double die reverses, what has me on this coin is that it resembles that of machine doubling, and also looks like a repunched date, Im just not sure, I have been looking for examples of the 58 but so far have not been that lucky, hopefully somone on here will have one or know of a good example to look at. Thank You again
