question on dime

    I found this dime that looks like it has a differnt color in areas that it has wear. Any ideas about this? Thanks

    It looks like some of the clad is missing.
    No idea how it got like that.

    Yea, it has copper color in the areas in question, but I thought the same thing. How would missing clad be in only certain areas of the coin. I just passed it off as post mint damage. Strange.

    That's just what it is.

    It's just stained. You can even see the normal clad peeking through at the high points of the design where the stain has worn through.

    I have a canadian nickel similar to that, but you can tell the clad is chipped off and its not stain
