What is the deal with all of the unissued notes from Costa Rico? Here is a link to an auction if you want to see what I mean: Item number:140399652979 Just search on "Costa Rico" and you will see what I mean. I had to pick one up just to take a look at one. Seems like a ton of them are out there. Anyone have any information? Thanks ~ Darryl
I've been wondering the same thing. Some of the notes are gorgeous but the prices sure vary for the same grade. A couple of the sellers are identifying them as unsigned remainders. I might grab a couple of the nicer (lower priced) ones just to have in my collection.
That's pretty interesting. I notice your note has no signatures in the fields below president and administrator. Is that all that would be needed to 'complete' these had they been issued?
In 1990 Christies Auction House sold all the remainders from the Bankrupt ABNCo ,Many were rare and never issued Remainders(unsigned) from many countries including US Obsolete Bank notes & the famous Hawaiian Notes.I don't have a catalog of the auction ,but it could be these remainders came from this auction.
Hi chris, sigs are one part and I am sure the other would be if they were offically released for circulation. Have to wonder how many times new currency was made right up to the point of release to have a change in government occure or something else that caused the halt of distribution.
i too have some of these unsigned notes. which would lead me to beleive they are remainders. there are other countries that have the same similar style notes. here is a note from Mexico with the same design.
Thanks for sharing urban!!! They are pretty neat and affordable! and no biggie Midas Best Regards ~ Darryl
